Letting go

Nona & Me, On writing

Man, it is hard. The final manuscript is due to go to the printer next week and I keep thinking ‘Maybe I should have another look just in case there are little bits I could improve/change/fix’.

Then I stop myself, because I know that no matter how many times I go over it there will always be something that could be done better. And it is definitely time to let go. It has gone through multiple drafts, then been professionally edited and proof-read, and re-edited by me…and I’m happy with it. I believe it is a solid, absorbing story.

So I keep the book closed and tell myself no-one will notice the miniscule little things I might pick up on another read. Except me.
